Root to Rise Physical Therapy & Pelvic Health first opened our doors in Saco in June of 2021 and since then this space has continued to evolve and grow. Located just across the Saco River from the city of Biddeford, our beautiful and calming space feels like a secret oasis inside the historic Saco Mill #4.

To find us enter the lobby of the mill then take the elevator to the first floor. Follow the hallway then we are just to the left in suite 113. Open our door to an abundance of natural light from the massive windows which bathes the open spaces and treatment in a sunny glow. We know the setting plays a role in allowing our patients to feel safe and so we work hard to keep it peaceful, calm and clean. Given that we specialize in Pelvic Health, many of our patients come to us with complaints of pain - oftentimes chronic - as well as increased stress surrounding their symptoms, and are seeking help from our providers to address these symptoms. Stepping into an office where you not only feel welcomed by our smiling Administrative Assistant, Kelsey, but feel comforted and safe is important to us.

The clinic started as two treatment rooms and one open space for completing exercises with your pelvic floor therapist. Less than a year later we expanded into the space next door creating an additional  treatment room and adding more space for private yoga sessions and community classes or gatherings. One of our favorite offerings since our expansion is a weekly free pregnancy and postpartum support group hosted by Calina Keating, RN, IBCLC. We also have a waiting room and a quiet space supportive for feeding babies, checking out some of our recommended books, or making yourself a coffee or tea while you wait to see your provider.

Our treatment rooms are occupied throughout the week for Pelvic Floor Therapy where you can find our therapists, Dr. Mackenzie Foley, Dr. Daisy Doherty, and owner and physical therapist Dr. Jennifer Gelfand. Our clinic treats patients in all stages of life offering exercises, yoga therapy, manual treatment, dry needling, cupping, and more as appropriate.

Our providers treat a variety of conditions and offer a truly holistic approach. Some common diagnoses include:

  • urinary incontinence

  • urinary urgency and frequency

  • pelvic pain

  • pain during intercourse

  • low back pain

  • tailbone pain

  • sacral (SIJ) pain

  • constipation

  • pelvic organ prolapse such as cystocele or rectocele

Many of these complaints can be as a result of pregnancy or postpartum, however our skills expand beyond this population. We welcome all genders and stages of life including perimenopause, menopause, and postmenopause.

We are also grateful to have space for other local providers including Calina Keating of The Mama Coach, and Andrea Leighton of Soulaglow Massage, and Jess Labonte of the Reiki Baker who are all local to the Saco - Biddeford region and offer an array of services.

We are so grateful to offer our services in this beautiful space in Saco, Maine! To find us in the mill, find detailed directions here.
