Acupuncture For Fertility

Whether you’re just getting started or working alongside reproductive technology (ART) like IVF or IUI, at Root to Rise, we tailor our treatments to your needs.

Acupuncture is a powerful resource for maximizing your reproductive health and can be an strong ally when trying to conceive.

We know everyone’s path to parenthood is unique and we tailor our approach to your needs. During your fertility journey, acupuncture can reduce the impact of stress, regulate your menstrual cycles, prepare your body for conception, and provide additional support alongside assisted reproductive technology (ART).

Having a regular, predictable menstrual cycle can be a foundation for a healthy pregnancy. Acupuncture is a tool that can support those struggling with:

  • painful periods

  • irregularity of periods

  • no ovulation (anovulation)

  • too much or too little flow

Typical cycles tend to last between 25-35 days, but there is individual variance. Plus, certain conditions contribute more to irregularity - like polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) creating long cycles and irregular ovulation.

Your acupuncturist will target your needs and work with you to develop a treatment plan to support your fertility goals.

Acupuncture can be useful in many different stages of trying to conceive whether you are just getting to know your cycle and fertile window or honing in on more specific needs.

If you are trying to conceive without intervention, acupuncture can:

  • Support a healthy menstrual cycle and promote regular ovulation

  • Support sperm health

  • For the person carrying the baby, treatment can be applied at certain times of the menstrual cycle to promote a healthy endometrial lining for implantation or to support blood flow to foster early growth.

We would love to be on your team! We take the time to listen to your story and learn your unique goals and will be by your side throughout your fertility journey.

Our clinic environment is calm and relaxing and your provider will take time to listen to you. Initial evaluations are 90 minutes and involve a full history and discussion of your fertility journey to tailor a treatment plan to your needs and goals. Follow up visits are 60 minutes and always 1:1 with your acupuncturist and customized to your specific needs.

Meet Our Acupuncturists

Carole Wyche, Lic. Ac., MAOM

Acupuncturist, Chinese Herbalist, Administrative & Marketing Coordinator

Carole (she/her/hers) is a nationally certified and licensed acupuncturist and herbalist who began practicing in 2012. Her passion for women’s health has inspired additional training in fertility support, regulation of cycles, pregnancy, and postpartum recovery. She gave birth to her first child in August 2020, an experience that has increased her empathy for all mothers, amazement at the capability of the human body, and advocacy for postpartum care and support.

Her interest in acupuncture began after receiving treatment herself to address acid reflux. She found treatments left her feeling less stressed and more balanced in addition to having improved digestion, and that was an experience she wanted to pass on to others. She is continually fascinated by the theories of traditional Chinese medicine that beautifully articulate the interconnection of our internal systems–each part affecting the whole.

She has experience treating a wide variety of conditions, including pain, digestive disorders, anxiety, and sleep trouble. She has worked in many settings in Massachusetts and Maine, including Boston Medical Center, an outpatient neurosurgical practice, an addiction and behavioral health home, and a private practice. Each setting has offered unique opportunities for growth and human connection.
